Different seasons bring different challenges. In the winter, dry indoor air and chilly temperatures can make your body stiff and irritated while the arrival of spring often brings seasonal allergies.

Try this simple chest-tapping technique

In either case, you can try this simple chest-tapping technique to reduce your body's stress and stress-related sensitivity to allergens.

1. Start by standing or sitting comfortably with your back straight.

- Pull your shoulder blades back slightly to open your chest.

2. With one or both hands, lightly tap the center of your chest.

- You can tap with your fingertips, palms, or even lightly with a fist.

3. Exhale through your mouth comfortably while tapping, focusing on 'letting go' of tension in the chest.

- You should be able to feel stimulation without pain from tapping.
- As you continue you should be able to feel a sense of warmth or heaviness in your chest.

4. Continue exhaling comfortably, feeling a sensation of lightness in your rib cage as you relax your chest more deeply.

Give yourself some time to feel the difference. You'll probably need at least 1 minute, as oftentimes 3-5 minutes to relax.

After tapping, take a few deep breaths and notice the results. You should be able to sense a reduction in tension and easier breathing.

As with any new exercise, we recommend that you consult with your health care provider before trying it.

Enjoy!
